Guided visualisation: Meet your future self and connect with your vision

Some days you don't need another strategy. You need to remember why you started, and what you're actually building toward. If you've been deep in the doing, the posting, the planning, and you've lost touch with the vision underneath it all, this episode of the Soul & Strategy podcast was recorded for exactly that moment.

Instead of a teaching episode, this one is a guided visualisation, a meditation to connect you with your future self, the version of you who has already created the business and life you're working toward.

Listen to the full episode above to be guided through it with my voice, or read on below for the visualisation and what it can offer you.

Why visualisation works when strategy alone doesn't

Most of our day runs on the mind. We think, we plan, we decide. And the mind is a brilliant tool, but it isn't where our truth lives. What actually feels right or wrong for us sits in the body, in the feeling, in a layer of knowing that gets quieter the busier we get.

Visualisation is one of the few practices that can access that layer directly. It creates the space and the silence our intuition needs to be heard, the same silence I talked about in the episode on intuition versus fear. And there's a reason it works on more than just a spiritual level too.

Our mind can't fully distinguish between what's real and what we vividly imagine. It's the same reason your heart races during an intense movie scene even though you know it isn't real. Athletes use this constantly, mentally rehearsing a race before they run it, because the brain registers the rehearsal as practice. We can use that same mechanism to connect with the subconscious and start building, in our mind first, the reality we actually want to live in.

Meet the version of you who's already there

This visualisation works by connecting you with your future self, the you who has already created what you're working toward right now. That's powerful because once you can see her clearly, you can reverse engineer her path. You can ask her what she did to get there, and bring those steps back with you into the present.

It's a bit like asking someone successful how they did it, except the person you're asking is you. ✨

If you've never done a visualisation like this, trust whatever comes through, even if it feels small or unclear at first. This is a skill that strengthens with practice, the same way any new practice does.

Turning the visualisation into action

A visualisation like this is only half the work. The other half is bringing what you saw back into your actual day. So before you move on, sit with two questions.

  1. What is one thing your future self did to get where she is that you could start doing today, in the next 24 hours?

  2. What was the feeling underneath everything she had created? Freedom, gratitude, confidence, whatever it was for you. The real reason we want any outcome is rarely the outcome itself; it's the feeling we think it will finally give us. So rather than waiting for the achievement to arrive before you let yourself feel that way, find one way to create that feeling now. If it was freedom, what would make you feel free today? A walk or dancing around your living room before you even open your laptop. You don't need the whole vision realised to start feeling like the woman who's already living it.

If this is a practice that's new to you, come back to it again. Visualisation gets easier and clearer every time you do it, and it's one I return to often myself, and one I do with my own clients too.

Share your thoughts with me

If this visualisation gave you something to sit with, I'd love to hear about it. Send me a message on Instagram @sabinelehnhardt and let me know what came up for you, or what your future self told you. And if there's a topic you want covered on the podcast, that's where to tell me too.

Listen to the full episode above to be guided through this with my voice, and follow the Soul & Strategy podcast so you don't miss what's next.

With love,

Sabine 🤍
